While Affiliate Marketing is one of the fastest growing
online Small Businesses, it is not as easy to be successful in it as the
numerous advertisements would have you believe. I know because I have tried a
few of them. There are a few basic things that you require in order to make it
work for you:
�Motivation
� I have put this at the top because above everything else, I believe that this
is the most important ingredient that will determine whether you attain success
in your online business or not. Becoming a successful Affiliate Marketer takes
a lot of hard work, trial and error and perseverance.
If you are like most of the people out there you will probably try it for the
first time (or second or third) and fail miserably. A lot of people give up after
that. If you are really serious about this �online marketing thing� then keep
at it. This separates the men from the boys! I recently listened to a video
from Tony Robbins which was shared with me by Raymond Selda, another Internet Marketer,
which I found totally inspiring. Tony Robbins has captured a self-sustaining
process that he calls �Holy Grail of Motivation�. If you want to have some

�Niche �
This is a product or service that you will provide to your public. Picking the right niche is very important. The more
interest you have in it or the more passionate you feel about it, the more
success you will have in your online business, however having the greatest amount of interest in your selected niche will not necessarily make it a success. Starting off with a
well-researched niche is crucial to your success and your level of motivation. Determining the correct niche will be explored upon at a later date.
� Website �
Once you have decided on your product or service, you need to select a website
to advertise your product or service. You will need to research a relevant name
for your website and then find a Hosting Company to host your website.
� Website
Setup and Advertising � This is where the fun really begins. Once you have
purchased your website you will need to install some software to enable you to
�bring your website to life�. Most reputable hosting companies provide the
necessary software and training videos to easily setup a basic website. If you
have any difficulties in setting it up you can generally call the hosting
company�s support staff. I have found most hosting company support staff very
helpful. Depending on the software you use to publish your information you
should be able to find additional informational videos on You-Tube on configuring
your website software. Get ideas from other sites and develop a website to your
liking.
�Making Money
- The money you earn comes from what you sell on your website. This may be
in the form of advertising various companies or selling products or services on
your site for other companies or yourself. However, remember that in order for people to
buy from your site they have to be interested in what you are selling and interested
in coming to your site rather than going to another site. Making prospective
clients come to your site is a subject in itself which will be discussed in a
future article.
